Dog Training Leash

Double ended dog leash vs. training leash: What is the difference?

While a double ended dog leash is often categorised as a training leash, the main difference is that a double ended leash has clips at both ends for dual control, while a training leash is usually a longer leash used for distance work. Most training leashes are 5 to 10 meters long and are designed to help dogs practice recall from further away. In contrast, a double ended leash is built for versatility and close-range steering by connecting to two points at once.

However, because some double ended leashes are longer than a standard lead, they can also be used for basic recall training. While they aren't as long as a dedicated training line, they allow you to give your dog a little extra freedom while still having the ability to quickly switch back to short, controlled handling in busy areas.
